01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

One simple way to enjoy the hotcakes, shared by a visitor to YAMAZAKI COFFEE, is to sandwich the butter between them and let the warmth melt it. These traditional hotcakes are cooked slowly on a dedicated copper griddle. Some diners prefer them with butter alone, without maple syrup; paired with straight coffee, they make a leisurely breakfast.

For a topping, you could choose lightly sweetened whipped cream or rich vanilla ice cream, or try chunky ogura red bean paste with salted butter. One diner who chose the red bean topping was pleasantly surprised by how well it went with the hotcakes. Another sweet option is the French toast: caramelised and crisp on the outside, soft within. It is also available with vanilla ice cream, making it a dessert-like treat.

For a more substantial breakfast, there is a set with buttered toast, sausage, scrambled egg, yoghurt and coffee, as well as one with three-cheese toast, sausage, scrambled egg and a drink. Lunch options include an omelette rice topped with demi-glace sauce, made with buttery ketchup rice, and Napolitan served sizzling on a hot plate with egg. The menu suits an early visit for the hotcakes, but also offers the sort of café meals that make for an easy lunch with coffee.
